Queens Casino Seeks to Improve Gambling Options in Eastern CapeQueen’s Casino in Queenstown, Eastern Cape is hoping to revamp its property and turn it into a first-class gambling and entertainment resort in the area.

The casino recently hired veteran gaming manager, Nancy Govender, to weave her magic spell and help with these objectives.

Govender has over two decades of experience in South Africa’s casino industry under her belt in groups such as Sun International, Tsogo Sun, Galaxy Bingo and Gold Rush, and now she is ready to roll up her sleeves and make Queens Casino a go-to gaming and entertainment destination in the province.

“I am excited to be in Queenstown to provide the best entertainment, even in surrounding towns,” Govender told The Rep. “This place is great for family holiday destinations. We cater for both adults and children with facilities such as the bar, restaurant, recreational area and the conference hall for business-related matters and leisure.”

Influenced by US Standards

According to Govender, while she was still in her role as manager for Goldrush Bingo in Mpumalanga, she travelled to the United States and visited a number of entertainment and gambling destinations such as Las Vegas, Hollywood, Disneyland and Las Angeles.

“I witnessed how advanced it is in terms of technology and business,” she said about her 2019 trip. “It was indeed a life-changing experience, I was impressed!”

Plans for Queens Casino

Govender believes that a casino’s should provide leading entertainment and cater for different groups. She plans to introduce unique events such as ladies nights, all the while continuing to cater to families.

Govender pointed out that Queenstown lacks entertainment and she’d like to change that. In fact, she is not afraid to claim that Queenstown could turn into a world-class destination.

“We will introduce a supper club and invite top customers and people that stopped coming,” she said. On Thursdays, we will have a ladies night with two for one cocktail specials. There will also be a resident DJ playing on month ends.”
