Scherzinger was filming at Sun International’s flagship hotel and casino resort, Sun City as part of the X Factor show. On her last day of filming the judges’ house segment of the show, the singer felt so ill with a sudden bout of tonsillitis that medics at the on-site clinic put her onto an antibiotics drip. Later on, with her situation still not any better, medics feared that Scherzinger would need to be taken to hospital.

According to The Sun, Scherzinger “battled through filming, but on the last day it got too much and she agreed she needed to see a doctor. It was very frightening, especially as she was thousands of miles from home.”

Filming was put on hold while the singer rested and received treatment. Scherzinger returned to her scenes the following day, and finally received an all-clear from on-site doctors to travel on to her next commitment – a trip for UNICEF.
