7 Card Stud Poker Guidelines :

  1. How to choose a table – it’s best to play at a table of mixed players and at one where you will have an edge. Don’t join an all-pro table if you are still learning, a couple of weaker players will make it easier to win.
  2. Be choosy when selecting your starting hand – your starting hand is your most important tool for starting the game on a good foot.
  3. Play the players – size up the opposition as quickly as possible. Look out for players who folds at any sign of aggression, often play inferior hands, who calls on weak hands, who bets with draws, who bluffs and who can be bluffed, etc.
  4. Raise when you have a strong draw. It’s a good idea to raise instead of just calling whenever you get a good or great draw, like a 4-flush on 4th Street. This decision can cause your opponent to lay down a better hand and leaves you remaining in a strong draw.
  5. Remember your up cards – have a look at your 7 Card Stud Poker opponents’ up cards and try to remember them. It is always important to know if their hands are live or not.
  6. Either pump it or dump it – you have to act quickly to fold, bet, or raise when the odds are either for or against you. Don’t just call unless you have a good excuse to do so.
