netent-releases-branded-street-fighter-ii-the-world-warrior-slotThe Swedish online casino game supplier, NetEnt, has been forced to pull one of its most anticipated slots of the year from partner casinos, just one week after it was launched. Street Fighter II was touted as one of the most exciting releases by NetEnt, bringing to the reels the popular characters of Capcom’s video game from the 1990’s by the same name.

However, “internal concerns” by NetEnt’s management, regarding staking mechanics of the game led to an unprecedented decision to pull the game temporarily. As of now, Street Fighter II slot is not available at any of the online casinos frequented by South Africans, and there is still no official word about when the game can be expected to make a return. It is hoped, however, that once the issue has been addressed and fixed, the branded slot game will be back at online casinos.

eGaming Review published a leaked email message written by NetEnt’s Head of Communication, Victor Melander, confirming that the game has been taken offline temporarily. In the email, the executive confirms that an internal investigation will take place, examining the staking mechanics in the game, where the bet sizes change as players near bonus rounds.

The email message reads: “We have identified a potential situation whereby player staking behavior could impact the intended gameplay experience on our recent release Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot.

Please be assured that to date the game has been performing within the expected parameters in respect to the certified math model and RTP on a network level.

We have taken the decision to implement the following steps:

1: In the coming hours, we will temporarily disable Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot in production.

2: Our teams have already identified a fix that will prevent this issue from occurring, and we are in the process of implementing this. Once this game is certified by our test house, we will make it available to you.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused, and rest assured we are working hard to get this game back up and running for you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding, and should you require any further information please reach out to your Account Manager.”
