The online casino group, NetEnt, which provides software to some of the major online casinos that are frequented by South African players, has finalized the placement of a new Group CEO by appointing Therese Hillman permanently for the role. Hillman’s appointment was sealed by the Board of Directors at NetEnt and comes into immediate effect. She has served as chief financial officer with NetEnt since January last year, and has been the Swedish group’s acting chief executive officer since March this year.
The chairman of the board at NetEnt, Fredrk Erbing said that NetEnt was pleased to appoint Hillman as their new Group CEO. He praised Hillman for her “clear business focus”, and said that she was an appreciated leader with “great energy.”
“NetEnt is pioneering the online gaming industry and is taking the next step to be at the forefront of business focus and innovation,” said Erbing. “With Therese’s abilities, we get the right person to lead the company in the next growth phase.”
Hillman also commented on her new appointment, saying that she was taking on the new role as Group CEO of NetEnt “with great enthusiasm, but also humility.”
“I look forward to drive the development of the industry together with our customers and employees and to deliver the best player experiences,” said Hillman, adding that this was how NetEnt could continue to create value for its customers, shareholders, players and employees.
In March this year, NetEnt announced that it was looking for a new chief executive after removing Per Eriksson from the role. The group said that Eriksson was asked to leave after the financial performance of NetEnt had “not been as it should”. The Stockholm-listed NetEnt had seen fourth quarter results in 2017 fail to match revenue and profit targets. It was at that time that Hillman was promoted to acting CEO. NetEnt said at the time that its board believed that the group needed a new driving force to reverse negative trends and increase focus on growth.
